Violencia Filio-Parental: Características personales y familiares de una muestra de Servicios Sociales

Resumen
El objetivo de este artículo es analizar las características que presenta una muestra de menores y jóvenes recogida en el Servicio Municipal de Urgencias Sociales (SMUS) de Bilbao por intervenciones catalogadas como Violencia Filio-Parental (VFP), examinando si existían diferencias en función del tipo de familia (usuarias habituales de Servicios Sociales versus no usuarias) y del sexo. En total se analizaron 72 expedientes (enero de 2008-junio de 2013). Los resultados señalan que hay una mayor presencia de familias monoparentales (solo madre). La violencia va dirigida hacia la madre principalmente, excepto en las familias nucleares. Se solicita más frecuentemente intervención por situaciones de violencia física, y la descripción de los episodios puede catalogarse como violencia reactiva. De las características individuales destaca la edad de comienzo (14.33 años), presencia de intervenciones previas, consumos de drogas, fracaso a nivel escolar, exposición a la violencia y enfermedad mental diagnosticada. Existen diferencias en función del tipo de familia (mayor presencia de familias monoparentales en las usuarias habituales de SS.SS.) y del sexo (mayor presencia de violencia física en chicos y psicológica en chicas).

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyze the characteristics of a sample of young people involved in interventions classified as Child to Parent Violence (CPV), in case data obtained from a Social Services centre in Bilbao. We examined whether there were differences by family type (regular users of Social Services vs. non-users) and by gender. A total of 72 cases were analyzed between January 2008 and June 2013. The results indicate a predominance of single-parent families (single mothers) in such cases. The violence is primarily directed toward the mother, although this is not true in the case of nuclear families. Intervention is most frequently sought for situations of physical violence and, according to descriptions of the episodes, the violence can be classified as reactive. As regards individual characteristics, of particular interest are the starting age (14.33 years), the presence of previous interventions, the use of illegal drugs, poor academic performance, exposure to violence and diagnosed mental illness. There are differences depending on type of family (there are more single-parent families among the habitual users of social services) and on gender (more physical violence is shown by boys and psychological violence is shown by girls).
